For me, fan fiction is my place to cheat. I'm writing, but I don't have to work at it. In most cases, my audience is already familiar with the show on which the stories are based. I don't have to describe the settings. "Briefing room" or "infirmary" immediately brings the on-screen image to mind. I don't have to develop the characters or establish their backstories if I don't want to. Half of my job as a writer is already done!
Mostly, though, writing fan fiction is an act of love. I love my show and its characters. I miss them too much to let them go. So I bring them back and give them new adventures. I write the stories that I would love to read. Through the International Little Daniel List, I've found other fans who enjoy reading what I've written, so I've gathered my love-offerings together in one place in hopes that others will find something here when they, too, need to re-visit their show one more time.
I've recently learned how to vid as well. Vidding is less about cheating because it's hard work, especially for a newbie like me! But it's a blast to reshape the shows I love to match the music that I love.
I've divided the Stargate section into these categories:
Little Danny: stories featuring Daniel as a child in some form or another. This is, by far, the largest category since I was writing these types of stories specifically for the International LD List. This category also includes stories that were published in Zines.
GEN: stories and vids about individual characters or the team. I have a tendency to write missing scene stories for this category.
SLASH: stories and vids about the J/D relationship.
